Still Connected?

Hey friends - just thinking about you and wondering... Are you still attached? Is the IV still in your arm? Or have you become weary as the weeks and months have passed by?

If you're not sure what in the world I'm talking about, make your way back to my March 13th post - Dinner vs the Drip. That'll get you up to speed. Did you read it? Fantabulous... maybe, go read it again. I am. (you should be reading right now 😍)

Welcome back. So... still connected?

It becomes easy to quietly remove the intravenous infusion of Living Water and cut off the very nourishment your soul craves. No one sees the BibleApp checkboxes. No alerts get sent to your BFFs notifying them you haven't read in weeks. No lightning strikes or phenomenons happen to make you ponder your path. Silence.

One day becomes two.

Two becomes a week.

A week becomes four.

And then... why start now? At this point, you feel so far from God, and He's probably disappointed or indifferent. Because really... you have NO EXCUSE! Right?!

Guilt. Apathy. Paralysis.

The gap that separates you from the Lover of your soul.

This season has given us more time and space than we know what to do with. However, most of us are fatigued, fearful, and downright depressed. So... the thought of taking time to read words that give little comfort and no hope... that's a hard "no" from me.

However...

I love that the Author and Creator does not care. He's not moved by our own disappointment or indifference. He's waiting to stick a "however" or "even so" into your story. Did you know there are 71 "howevers" in Bible? The word "even so" makes 38 appearances, "nevertheless" is at 118, and "yet" at a whopping 448 times. This means there are plenty of times - even in Scripture - regardless of our selfish and sinful ways - God is and has more. We can give the Word a "peace out", and God says, "you may have unhooked the IV, however, I'm still here."

Yet, will I trust Him - Job 13:15

Even so, God shall make you fall before the enemy - 2 Chronicles 25:8

Nevertheless, in Your great mercy - Nehemiah 9:31

However, for this reason I obtained mercy - 1 Timothy 1:16

He desires to speak life into our life. His heart is to give hope to our hearts. He is eager to pursue us in our pain and shame. He is big enough to handle our anger and frustration. He wants to lavish us with comfort, truth, and grace even if we don't deserve it. He wants to step into the gap.

The very Word of God is breath on a page. The Holy Spirit uses it to beckon us to His side as we walk through this season and struggle with all the feelings from A to Z. Alone to "zoomed" out. Anxious to zapped. All-in to zero. He's here for all of them, and His Word is the only thing that will sustain your weary soul.

Practical next steps for you || Pick up your Bible. Read John 1. That's it, nothing more. Or start reading your BibleApp plan again - pick up where you left off - no one knows. Or pick another plan. Start with a week instead of a year. Completing something small is a huge boost to our confidence.

So... no judgment here. Do something plain and simple. Make a small connection with a big God for limitless access to the drip.
